Today we lost another great.  Leonard Nimoy, better known as Star Trek's Spock, passed at the age of 83. Hospitalized earlier this week for complications with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Nimoy sent a heartfelt final tweet further epitomizing the very meaning of his iconic catchphrase "Live long and prosper" (for which the title of this post is, in Vulcan).

I have always had a great appreciation for Star Trek.  For me, it started with watching episodes of Next Generation with my dad, then having to be educated about the greatness that is the original series. Spock will always hold a special place in my heart, and not just because my favorite item of clothing is my Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock sweatshirt (below). His character was seemingly unintentionally hilarious which isn't easy to pull off on a show that was just downright goofy. The excitement I felt when he made significant cameos in the new Star Trek movies was more than anticipated and I am sad he won't be making it into the third one (unless they pull some crazy hologram special effects, which would not be out of character for such a genre so.... work on that).

I took this photo last week and share it today in honor of the late Leonard Nimoy. We'll miss you dude! You lived long and prospered and we'll try to do the same!
